Box of Souls

Back in April I lost a very good friend to leukaemia and always wanted to write a song on the idea that we are brought up to believe that we are going to live a long healthy life, have children and grow old with the person we love. 

This song is about how the life we have doesn't always take into account the cards that some of us are dealt.

A couple of months ago a friend of ours engineer Brett Cox messaged us to say he had some studio time available that night as a band had pulled out. He continued to ask us whether we would like to do something with it. Unfortunately not all of us could make due to work commitments as it was so last minute. However, we grabbed our gear, a camera and our good pal Sam and headed to the studio with no idea what the hell we were going to do.

When we arrived at the studio we realised we didn't want to just record a standard live version of a song and decided to set ourselves a challenge. Re-write one of our songs there and then and record it live, warts and all. There is no smoke and mirrors here, just five musicians jamming for the love of being creative and passionate about music. We were at the studio 8pm to 2am and this is what we came up with.
